Marriage

Saint Peter Church is available for weddings on Fridays at 4 p.m. and on Saturdays at 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.  The church is a 5 minute drive to downtown and within close proximity to numerous wedding venues – PNC Park, the Inn on the Mexican War Streets, Children’s Museum, Heinz Field, Convention Center, Rivers Casino, the Priory, Wyndham Grand Downtown, National Aviary, Parador Inn, Mattress Factory, Renaissance Hotel, Station Square, William Penn Hotel, Warhol Museum, and numerous other locations.  All weddings must be confirmed with the parish office at least six (6) months in advance of the ceremony.  No weddings may be scheduled to take place on Sundays, during Lent, or on Holy Days of Obligation.  Other exclusions may apply.  Any required documentation is to be completed by the priest who will officiate at the ceremony.  The pastor of Saint Peter Parish will celebrate the weddings of parish members only.  Non-parishioners are to provide a priest or deacon for the ceremony, with the permission of the pastor of Saint Peter Parish.  All paperwork, along with permissions and dispensations, must be on file in the Parish Office at least eight (8) weeks before the scheduled wedding date.  Please keep in mind that when dispensations or permissions are required [as in the case of interfaith marriages], it may take a longer period of time until all forms are completed.  After reserving a desired date, the bridal couple is required to complete all preliminary marriage forms and return them with the total deposit within two (2) weeks.  The reservation is not considered to be confirmed until the deposit has been received.  The deposit should be in the form of a check made payable to Saint Peter Parish.  Click here for a complete listing of the Saint Peter Parish Wedding Policy.
Sometimes a newly married couple is looking for things for their guest to do after the wedding ceremony is over and before the reception begins.  There are numerous venues near Saint Peter Church that you may want to suggest to your guests as they fill in the gap -- visit West Park as well as Gus' Italian ice stand in West Park; tour the National Aviary; visit the Mattress Factory in the historic Mexican War Streets; enjoy a beverage at one of the local pubs including the Park House, Max's Allegheny Tavern, Benjamin's, Modern Café, Monterey Pub, the Clark candy bar building, or the James Street Gastropub; tour the Children's Museum or the Andy Warhol Museum; or checkout the Allegheny Riverwalk, watersteps, PNC Park, and Heinz Field.
